“I wake up every day thinking about how we make Indiana the best place to live, work, and raise a family … I truly believe Indiana and Hamilton County’s best days are yet to come.”

Get to know Todd Huston
Todd Huston was born and raised in Hamilton County. He and his wife, Denise, a teacher, met at Hamilton Southeastern High School, married after graduating from Indiana University, and returned home to raise their family. Their two adult children, Elizabeth and Jake, are also graduates of Hamilton Southeastern and Indiana University. The Hustons attend I-Town Church in Fishers.
Todd’s commitment to public service began close to home, serving on the Hamilton Southeastern School Board and the Fishers Planning Commission. Former Governor Mitch Daniels later appointed him to both the Indiana State Board of Education and the Indiana Education Roundtable. Professionally, Todd served in the Indiana Department of Education during Governor Daniels’ administration before becoming a senior vice president for a national organization focused on college readiness. Today, he works as a business consultant helping organizations solve problems and grow.
Since first being elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in 2012, Todd has served on both the House Committee on Education and the House Committee on Ways and Means. In 2020, his colleagues elected him Speaker of the House, a position they have entrusted him to hold for three consecutive terms.

Todd is a leader on issues that make a difference for our state:
Record funding for our excellent K-12 schools
Todd’s commitment to education is personal. He served on the Hamilton Southeastern School Board, his wife Denise is a teacher, and both of their children graduated from Hamilton Southeastern Schools. Todd believes education funding should prioritize students, classrooms, and the outstanding teachers who prepare the next generation. That’s why he’s supported back-to-back record investments in Indiana’s K–12 schools. The most recent state budget increased K–12 tuition support by $640 million, bringing nearly half of Indiana’s state budget to student funding and representing the largest investment in K–12 education in state history.
Protecting Hoosier Taxpayers
Hoosiers know how to spend their money better than government does. As Speaker of the House, Todd co-authored the largest tax cut in state history, reducing Indiana’s income and utility receipts taxes, while preserving the state’s strong fiscal foundation. Most recently, he led landmark property tax reform projected to save Indiana homeowners $1.3 billion over the next three years, providing long-term relief while improving transparency and protecting local services.
Growing Indiana’s Economy
Todd knows Indiana’s success starts with creating an environment where families, workers, and businesses can thrive. Indiana has maintained a AAA credit rating for 17 consecutive years, ranks among the country’s most tax-competitive states, and continues to attract record private investment, new employers, and good-paying jobs. More families and businesses are choosing Indiana because our state offers opportunity, stability, and a government that lives within its means.
Education opportunity for all kids
Todd understands firsthand how important it is for parents to find the right educational environment for their children. As a child, he overcame a speech disability because his parents moved into the Hamilton Southeastern School District to access specialized programs that met his needs. That experience shaped his belief that every family should have the same opportunity to choose the educational setting that’s right for their child. Todd has led efforts to expand Indiana’s nationally recognized school choice programs while also strengthening career and technical education, apprenticeships, and workforce training so every student is prepared for success, whether they pursue college, skilled trades, military service, or another career path.
Making Healthcare More Affordable
Todd has led efforts to increase transparency, strengthen competition, and hold healthcare providers accountable for the cost of care. He supported landmark reforms focused on greater transparency in healthcare pricing, increased oversight of hospitals and insurers, and helping employers and families better understand what they’re paying for care. These reforms also promote competition by eliminating practices that drive up costs and make it harder for patients to find affordable options. Todd has also championed measures to improve accountability throughout Indiana’s healthcare system, giving state leaders better tools to monitor costs and protect consumers.
